Kate Westbrook

Partner & Head of Commercial, Thrings Solicitors

Over the past 20+ years, Kate has built a reputation as a trusted voice in business and tech, recognised as one of the region’s go-to lawyers for commercial law and contracts. She works with organisations of all sizes, from start-ups to multinational PLCs, supporting them in achieving their commercial objectives.

Kate has made the South West her home, having joined Thrings as a trainee in its Swindon office in 2001. She has been with the firm ever since, qualifying as a solicitor before becoming a partner in 2009. Now Head of Commercial, Kate is known for building long-term, trusted relationships with her clients, who value her as an extension of their own teams. Her approach centres on clear judgement, practical thinking and tailored commercial legal advice.

Alongside her role at Thrings, Kate is a Non-Executive Director of Business West. One of the largest Chamber networks in the UK, Business West brings together the Bath Chamber, Bristol Chamber, Wiltshire Chamber and Gloucestershire Chamber, supporting businesses across the region to grow, connect and influence.

With a strong track record of championing the regional business community, Kate is delighted to continue her involvement as a judge for the TBE Awards, now in their third year. She plays an active role in recognising and celebrating the ambitious, innovative organisations shaping the future of Bath, Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.

She said, “The TBE Awards encapsulate everything I am passionate about in business, from celebrating progressive thinking to providing a platform that raises profiles and encourages collaboration.

“With so much innovation coming from businesses across our local communities, it is vital that we continue to recognise and support this work. At Thrings, we are proud of our long-standing partnership with The Business Exchange and are really looking forward to seeing the achievements celebrated at this year’s awards.”
