Emma Carter is a well-known member of the local business community having worked for a number of high-profile organisations across the South West.
She began her career as an apprentice before moving into sales and marketing at Yellow Pages followed by Biffa Waste Services.
Her zest for sales and marketing led her to secure key positions at director level in telecoms and tech. For nearly eight years, Emma worked at Excalibur Communications. During her tenure the firm was recognised as one of the UK’s best small companies to work for by Best Companies and achieved the Investors in People accreditation.
In 2022, Emma joined Business West, a business leadership and support organisation supporting over 15,000 businesses to grow, innovate and export. As Director of Membership, her role was to shape & deliver BW’s long-term strategy, putting members at the centre of backing & serving businesses; make a material positive impact on inclusive & environmentally sustainable business growth; & grow the social & economic success across the region.
The call of the Tech Market was never far away though, and Emma is now the CEO of WestSpring IT a Managed IT provider, offering unparalleled levels of IT service delivered via a unique unlimited concept, which turns the typical IT service contract on its head. As one of a handful of senior women in STEM in the region Emma is responsible for the business, based in Bristol, with a team of over 30 people and turnover of more than £5million pa.
